Yellow Attacks & Counterplay
Grabs, guard-breaks, and why F-parry fails on yellow telegraphs.
// Guide Summary
Yellow telegraphs mean dodge-only — blocking or standard parry (M2) gets guard-broken. Use Space or Flash Step (Q). Short M1 chains keep you mobile. Red = F counter or dodge; yellow = never hold block.
Quick Reference
| Topic | Detail | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow | Dodge only | Space / Q |
| Red | F or dodge | No block |
| M1 | 3–4 hit max | Stay reactive |
| Boss | Learn wind-up | Punish recovery |
What Yellow Means

Yellow glow marks grabs, unblockable swings, or guard-breaking AoE. Pressing F or holding M2 on yellow is the top beginner mistake — you eat a full combo.
Dragonfly tail slam and Gelum teaching fights are the safest places to practice yellow recognition.

Dodge & Spacing

Side-dash (Q) beats most grab hitboxes. Back-dash works for narrow swings but fails on wide AoE — read the wind-up direction.
Bait yellow by approaching then dashing out; punish the recovery frame with a short M1 string or skill.
Boss Yellow Patterns

Giant Dragonfly: yellow tail AoE — dodge lateral, parry red body hits.
King Croc / Marsh bosses: slow yellow grabs after block strings — disengage when posture is low.
Wandering Swordsman (Junichiro): fast yellow finishers — full stamina before phase 2.
