Z-Step & Flash Step Guide
Master Shunpo (Q) — gap-close, escape AoE, and chain dashes without draining Reiatsu.
// Guide Summary
Z-Step is community slang for Flash Step (Shunpo), bound to Q. Each dash spends Shunpo Stamina and Reiatsu. Use it to punish after parries, dodge red AoE, and chase — never spam yourself empty mid-boss. Stack Shihoin/Kurosaki clans, Wings trait, and Flashmaster charm for more dashes.
What Z-Step Actually Is

Players call high-level Flash Step play Z-Step. In-game the official name is Shunpo / Flash Step, triggered with Q after your weapon is drawn.
Flash Step is instant repositioning — not the same as Space dodge. Dodge gives i-frames; Flash Step covers distance while consuming Shunpo Stamina and Reiatsu.
Treat Q as a combat resource like posture: plan each dash instead of panic-spamming when pressured.
Key Tips
- ▸Q = Flash Step
- ▸Space = dodge
- ▸Draw weapon with X first
Shunpo Stamina & Reiatsu Economy

Every Flash Step drains Shunpo Stamina. When the pool empties, you cannot chain dashes until it refills — a common death cause in boss fights and PvP.
Reiatsu also drops per dash. Running dry removes your best escape tool right when red AoE telegraphs appear.
Disengage briefly to regen, or finish fights before you burn both pools. Save at least one dash for emergency red-attack escapes.
Key Tips
- ▸Never flash-step to zero Reiatsu
- ▸Keep one dash in reserve
- ▸Regen off-combat when low

Combat Applications

Offense: close on ranged Quincy/Hollow after a successful parry, or angle behind humanoid bosses during recovery.
Defense: red ground AoE (Gelum aura, marsh lunge) cannot be blocked — Flash Step or Space dodge are mandatory.
Mix-ups: dash diagonally after M2 parry instead of greedy M1 fourth hit — safer punish with less posture trade.
- 1Parry or dodge first
- 2Q to reposition
- 3M1/M3 punish on recovery
- 4Back off if stamina low
Clans, Traits & Charms for More Dashes

Mobility clans: Shihoin (Shinigami), Kurosaki or Ishida (Quincy) boost Shunpo Speed or Stamina.
Hollow/Arrancar: Wings trait adds flat Shunpo stats plus movement speed — S-tier for dash-heavy play.
Flashmaster (Tier 1 Spirit Charm) grants +7.5 Shunpo Stamina for low notch cost — slot it on any race.
Key Tips
- ▸Flashmaster is cheap mobility
- ▸Wings on Hollow routes
- ▸Pair with Speed tree for PvP
