How Shikai Tiering Works

Shikai type is random on first activation — you cannot pick. Rankings weight both PvP combo potential and PvE sustain. Pair each Shikai with the skill tree that amplifies its kit (Senbonzakura → Kido, Ice → Speed, Flame → Strength).
Two new Shikai were added in mid-2026: Demon Light introduces Spear → Flail → Nunchucks weapon-swap chains; Blooming Madness forces opponents into Shadow Game and Mountain Game duels. Both remain pending review until wider PvP testing settles.
S Tier — Senbonzakura & Ice

Senbonzakura: petal stacking, M2 extensions, and Mode burst make it the most well-rounded Shikai. Thousand Blossoms variants and Scatter sub-mode at 100% Ability Mastery push damage ceiling highest in PvE and PvP.
Ice: freeze trail plus clone utility create long combo windows. Red Ice variant extends freeze duration — safest PvP pick when you can convert freezes into Shunpo follow-ups.
Key Tips
- ▸Senbonzakura → Kido tree
- ▸Ice → Speed tree
- ▸Both viable endgame
A & B Tier — Flame, Ink, Reversal

Flame: consistent damage and thrust follow-ups; pairs with Strength or Speed for DPS builds. Reliable A-tier without Senbonzakura's burst or Ice's control.
Ink: strong damage but slow running moves — hard to land in PvP, closer to A in PvE. Dash slash is the standout fast move.
Reversal: solid for Hakuda + Speed melee builds. Clone adds pressure but lower damage ceiling than top tiers.

C Tier — Waypoint

Waypoint offers excellent mobility (Mark Destination, Rift, Warp) but lacks meaningful damage. Airwalk and Speed tree cover similar repositioning — focus on weapon and other trees if you roll Waypoint.
New — Demon Light (Weapon-Swap)

Added Jun 21 — 7th Shikai element and first weapon-swap archetype. Split Apart cycles Spear → Flail → Nunchucks; M2 (Three Piece Assault) cooldown resets on each Split Apart.
Perseverance tree rewards low-HP play (+3.5% output after swap, doubled below 35% HP; +10% DR below 25% HP). Virtuoso enables execute on final hits and bleed on ability slashes. Tier placement pending community review.
Key Tips
- ▸No variants
- ▸Execute at Virtuoso Lv8
- ▸9% rarity per community reports
New — Blooming Madness (Dual-Duel)

Added Jul 4 (9th release) — 8th Shikai, Legendary 1.0% roll. Shadow Game forces a shadow-step duel; Mountain Game contests height advantage. Irooni ultimate replaces Ctrl+M2 after enough cumulative damage.
Damage Lv7 can execute duel losers; Reiatsu Efficiency Lv10 upgrades regular crit to Bushogoma. Independent from Senbonzakura — not a rename. Tier pending review.
Key Tips
- ▸1% Legendary roll
- ▸Dual-blade weapon type
- ▸Duel mechanics = high skill ceiling
Shikai + Skill Tree Pairings
