Best Speed Builds

Corgi's full Speed and hybrid Speed+Strength routes — 400 Reserves spam meta, Launcher into Aerial Ace combos, and Shrine Refund tricks for hybrid paths.

Adapted from Corgi (@CorgiVR)~10 min read

// Guide Summary

Speed is the most broken meta in VV according to Corgi. Full Speed: max Reserves (ignore Haste/Potency/Metal/Shunpo), 400 Speed, core combo Launcher → Aerial Ace. Must-have nodes: Clone Strike Lv3 (hits ragdoll), Compound Rush Lv4 (counter extend), Blade Flow Lv6 (bleed), Splitting Stand Still. Hybrid Speed+Strength: 330 Speed / 70 Strength / 200 Reserve / 200 Haste — Shrine Refund Flash Surprise, grab Afterimage Slash, Final Breath Lv5 refreshes random cooldown.

Meta

Why Speed Is Meta

Speed skill tree — the dominant meta build
Speed skill tree — the dominant meta build

Corgi calls Speed the most insane build in VV — easy to obtain, low investment, and dominant in PvP. Everyone who's fought Speed agrees it's broken.

The Speed playstyle centers on spamming abilities, not M1 trading. That means max Reserves is non-negotiable — you need maximum Reatsu to keep pressing abilities.

Plan builds at vvbuilder.online before committing. Messing up your build in VV can leave you 'cooked' since resets are expensive.

Key Tips

  • Speed = current PvP meta
  • Max Reserves for ability spam
  • Use VV Builder before spending SP
  • Build mistakes are costly to fix
Full Speed

Full Speed Build (400 Speed)

Full Speed node path — 400 Reserves and 400 Speed
Full Speed node path — 400 Reserves and 400 Speed

Stat allocation: max Reserves, 400 Speed. Ignore Haste, Potency, Metal, and Shunpo — you don't need them on full Speed.

Early nodes: Aerial Ace (requires a knock-up launcher first) → Clone Strike level 3 (hits ragdoll/down enemies) → Flash Surprise (teleport behind, level 3 gives posture frames on hit) → Vortex Edge (level 5: parry during startup = drop attack from above, Type Soul Dropping Fang style).

Mid path: False Cutter (dash forward) → Launcher (knock enemy airborne — combo with Aerial Ace) → Compound Rush (level 4: press counter after hit for two-part attack extend).

Capstone: Blade Flow level 6 (Vergil-style, inflicts bleed — bleed damage is massive in VV) + Splitting Stand Still (range and mobility). This is the complete full Speed kit.

  1. 1Max Reserves + 400 Speed
  2. 2Clone Strike → level 3 first
  3. 3Launcher → Aerial Ace combo
  4. 4Blade Flow Lv6 + Splitting Stand Still

Key Tips

  • Aerial Ace needs Launcher knock-up first
  • Clone Strike Lv3 hits downed enemies
  • Bleed from Blade Flow Lv6 = huge DPS
  • Vortex Edge Lv5 parry = overhead strike
Hybrid

Hybrid Speed + Strength Build

Speed+Strength hybrid — 330 Speed / 70 Strength
Speed+Strength hybrid — 330 Speed / 70 Strength

Stat split: 330 Speed, 70 Strength, 200 Reserves, 200 Haste (swap Haste for more Reserves if you prefer ability spam).

Shrine Refund Flash Surprise to reclaim 8 skill points — use Shrine Refund to pass through nodes without keeping unwanted abilities. Shrine Level Up doubles any single skill upgrade.

Hybrid path: Aerial Ace + Clone Strike (no upgrades) → Speed Node → Shrine Refund Flash Surprise → Vortex Edge level 5 → Afterimage Slash level 3 (invisible clone, cannot be advanced-countered) → Judgment Cut level 3 (tracks running enemies) → Whirlwind Cutter level 4 (true second slash if first lands).

Strength nodes: Agile Body (survive parry execution, regen posture) → Double Strike → Final Breath level 5 (auto-execute at low HP, refreshes a random Speed/Strength cooldown + rebuilds ultimate bar). Also grab Splitting Stand Still as the only Skill Essence at this Speed investment.

Key Tips

  • Shrine Refund = pass through without keeping skill
  • Final Breath Lv5 = cooldown refresh + ult rebuild
  • Afterimage Lv3 = anti advanced-counter
  • 330 Speed minimum for hybrid route
Mechanics

Shrine Mechanics Explained

Shrine Refund and Shrine Level Up nodes
Shrine Refund and Shrine Level Up nodes

Shrine Refund: invest the skill point to unlock deeper tree nodes, then refund the ability — you keep tree access without keeping the skill. Essential for hybrid builds that need to skip nodes.

Shrine Level Up: levels any chosen skill twice instantly. Use on high-value nodes like Byakurai or Compound Rush.

Miscellaneous tree nodes upgrade automatically in most builds and don't require dedicated skill point planning — Corgi upgrades these regardless.

Key Tips

  • Shrine Refund skips unwanted abilities
  • Shrine Level Up = +2 levels any skill
  • Misc tree upgrades are low priority
  • Plan Shrine usage in VV Builder first
