Best Build For Each Race
JustKenshi's race-by-race skill tree recommendations — Arrancar, Quincy, and Shinigami optimal paths, plus why build mistakes are costly. Plan builds at vvbuilder.online before committing.
// Guide Summary
Build resets in VV cost 1000 Robux or rare crafted items — unlike Type Soul. Plan at vvbuilder.online first. Arrancar: Hakuda or Speed (Kido also viable). Quincy: Quincy Kido or Speed — Kido for ranged PvP if you struggle with parries. Shinigami: full Speed only — hybrids are stressful and point-hungry. Each race has a different Kido tree; stick to one full tree rather than spreading points across hybrids.
Plan Before You Commit

Before allocating a single skill point, open vvbuilder.online in your browser. The VV Builder site lets you mock up full builds and see node costs before you're locked in.
VV: ULTIMATUM does not offer cheap build resets. Unlike Type Soul, resetting requires either 1000 Robux or crafting rare reset items. A bad first build can handicap you for the entire character slot.
JustKenshi recommends joining his Discord (linked in the original video) for live build help if you're unsure after using the builder.
Key Tips
- ▸Use vvbuilder.online before first SP spend
- ▸Reset = 1000 Robux or rare craft
- ▸No free rerolls like Type Soul
- ▸One bad build = long-term struggle
Arrancar — Hakuda, Speed, or Kido

Arrancar has the most build flexibility of the three races. Each race in VV has a different Kido tree — some are stronger than others, and Misc tree nodes also differ slightly between factions.
JustKenshi's top picks for Arrancar: Hakuda, Speed, or Kido. Hakuda flows well with virtually every Resurrección in the game. Speed is universally strong across all races and playstyles.
His personal recommendation: go Speed or Hakuda. Speed gives mobility for kiting and invasion play. Hakuda complements melee Res forms. Full Kido Cero spam is viable but covered in detail in our Kido build guide.
Key Tips
- ▸Hakuda pairs with every Res well
- ▸Speed = safest universal choice
- ▸Kido Cero build = runaway spam style
- ▸Arrancar has the most build options
Quincy — Quincy Kido or Speed

Quincy players should invest in Quincy Kido or Speed. Quincy Kido is described as 'brain dead' strong — heavy projectile output that lets you range opponents out without constant parry exchanges.
If you struggle with close-range parry timing or prefer keeping distance in PvP, Quincy Kido is the answer. You can play scummy and win fights from range — and that's valid.
Speed is equally strong on Quincy and pairs well with all Quincy weapon types. If you're confident in melee, Speed + Quincy weapons is a clean, mobile setup.
Key Tips
- ▸Quincy Kido = projectile spam, low parry demand
- ▸Range-out play is viable in PvP
- ▸Speed works with all Quincy weapons
- ▸Pick Kido if parry timing is weak
Shinigami — Full Speed Only

For Shinigami, JustKenshi's answer is blunt: full Speed. Nothing else. Just Speed.
Hybrid builds (Speed+Kido, Speed+Strength, Speed+Hakuda) require careful point budgeting across multiple trees. You must watch every SP allocation, and one mistake cascades. Full single-tree builds are simpler and less stressful.
JustKenshi runs Speed on his own Shinigami and confirms it makes life significantly easier. Corgi's Kido build guide covers an alternative full Kido path if you prefer spellcasting — but for beginners, Speed is the lowest-friction choice.
Key Tips
- ▸Shinigami = full Speed, period
- ▸Hybrids are point-hungry and stressful
- ▸Speed simplifies movement and combos
- ▸Kido Shinigami = advanced alternative
Why Hybrids Are Hard Mode

Hybrid builds like Speed+Kido or Speed+Hakuda can work at high skill levels, but they demand precise SP planning. Every node in two trees competes for the same limited Soul Tokens.
JustKenshi explicitly avoids recommending hybrids in this guide because new players spread points too thin and end up mediocre at everything. A full Speed Shinigami or full Quincy Kido character hits harder milestones faster.
Once you're experienced and using VV Builder to math out exact node totals, hybrids become viable experiments. For your first character, commit to one tree per role.
Key Tips
- ▸Hybrids need exact SP math via VV Builder
- ▸New players: one full tree only
- ▸Spreading points = mediocre everywhere
- ▸Experiment hybrids on alt characters
